New Study Explains Trade Deal Controversy from DNC & How TPP Can Generate More of Martin Shkreli

CNN, ABC, NBC and Fox are highlighting the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal and its role in the presidential election in recent days. (See below for links to press articles).

"TPP provisions are modeled after a hidden labyrinth of US preferences for drug companies," said Professor Feldman. "In some aspects, TPP has those preferences on steroids."

Professor Feldman's study, released this weekend, shines a spotlight on all of those pharma preferences and explains how they work together.

Companies like Martin Shkreli's Turing and Valeant depend on this maze to keep competitors off the market as long as possible, notes Professor Feldman. "The only way to get price hikes like Shkreli's is to ensure no one else can compete," she said. "TPP exports systems like these around the world and helps entrench our own problems."

Study is titled, Regulatory Property: The New IP and is available at http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2815667
