“Lines drawn by science are never simple, and they are rarely able to solve anything from a legal perspective. When the legal system relies on science to craft its rules, however, those rules lack the flexibility and dexterity necessary for effective participation in the process of legal evolution. The rules are poorly understood by the legal actors who must apply them, which makes them ill-suited to the process of interpretation, evolution, and adaptation essential to the enterprise of law.“
